Academic Working Group

In collaboration with the Practitioner and Advocacy Working Groups, the Academic Working Group seeks to facilitate the aims of the PBI by sharing knowledge, engaging in dialogue, fostering new research, and advancing science-supported reforms.

The AWG will foster new and cross-disciplinary research collaborations relating to guilty pleas with the goal of furthering the translation of research in this area into policy. The group and its members will also engage in various academic projects, including identification of new areas of research and the creation of mechanisms for the dissemination of important research findings from around the globe to courts, practitioners, and advocacy groups.

To assist in advancing its work, the AWG will release a periodic newsletter to keep members abreast of the PBI’s and the AWG’s work. Each newsletter will feature plea-related content, such as policy developments, article spotlights (summarizing notable academic papers published since the last newsletter), future funding opportunities, guest columns, collaboration opportunities, domestic and international news updates, etc.

You can receive the newsletter via email by signing up for the working group on our “Subscribe/Contact” page. Copies of the newsletters and other projects will also be posted to this page.
