In a series of reports from 2022 and 2023, the Wilson Center provides information related to their plea-tracker project at the Durham County, NC District Attorney’s Office and the Berkshire County, MA District Attorney’s Office. The project sought to study the plea process and plea outcomes from within the prosecution offices. The reports contains analysis of data collected from the sites, including data regarding race, disposition, crime type, defense attorney role, sentencing type, pretrial detention, prison sentences, dropped charges, charge bargaining, multiple plea offers, mandatory minimums, and sentencing differentials.
